Rectal Diseases

Rectum is the last part of the digestive system and forms the last 15-20 cm of the large intestine. It is usually located in the middle of the pelvis and connects to the sigmoid colon. The rectum acts as a repository for the storage of stool and helps to expel the stool through the large intestine. The inner surface of the rectum consists of lines formed in layers to facilitate bowel movements, and these layers become more pronounced as they approach the anus. The anus is the last part of the rectum and is the final exit point of the digestive system.
