Some Important Studies
-
The examples in this section are selected summaries of advanced surgical approaches used in highly complex cases.
- For the first time worldwide and in Türkiye: In an advanced cancer surgery performed without general anesthesia—under spinal (lower-body) anesthesia while maintaining communication with the patient—8 organs were removed in the same session. In this extensive procedure, resection included the entire pancreas, the duodenum, two-thirds of the colon, the spleen, half of the stomach, the gallbladder, the right lobe of the liver, and the appendix.
- Second worldwide and the first in Türkiye: In rectal cancer surgery using robotic techniques, an advanced approach was performed in which the specimen was extracted without an abdominal incision, through natural orifices (vagina and anus).
- In a patient with a single kidney who was placed on dialysis due to occluded vascular stents, an emergency operation was performed in which the kidney was temporarily brought outside the body; the diseased artery was cleared, and the same kidney was re-implanted into the patient’s right groin. This prevented the patient from being dependent on lifelong dialysis.
- In a case of liver failure, as part of a team performing an advanced procedure carried out for the 11th time worldwide and the 5th time in Türkiye, contribution was made to an approach that enabled direct connection of the new liver to major vascular structures close to the heart.
- For the first time at Antalya Training and Research Hospital: A Liver and Kidney Transplant Center was established; numerous organ transplant procedures were performed, giving patients a new chance at life.
- In Antalya—one of the world’s 10 most visited cities—he was listed among the Top 10 most successful doctors in 2017 and was awarded the title of “Doctor of the Year” in 2018.
- Over 20 years of public service, he took active responsibility in the diagnosis, treatment, and surgical care of thousands of patients; beyond clinical practice, he contributed to the training of many surgeons and supported the transfer of knowledge and experience into institutional memory.
- With the aim of promoting Türkiye internationally, he authored numerous articles; by translating clinical experience into scientific output, he contributed to knowledge sharing and to the academic visibility of surgical practice.
