Emergency Surgical Intervention

In a motorcycle accident in Antalya, the 80-centimeter iron of the wire fence in the refuge entered the groin area of İbrahim Gül’s right leg and stuck into his lungs. After this serious injury, İbrahim Gül was resuscitated after a difficult 5-hour operation led by Prof. Dr. Tuğrul Çakır and attended by 7 physicians from different branches. However, his cousin Yasin Develioğlu, who was sitting behind the motorcycle, unfortunately lost his life.

Details of the Accident and Operation

On the night of March 18, around 22.00, the motorcycle driven by Yasin Gül went out of control and crashed into the wire fence on the refuge in Çaybaşı neighborhood of Muratpaşa district. The driver İbrahim Gül and his cousin Yasin Develioğlu, who was sitting in the passenger seat, were injured by the broken iron bars of the wire fence. Firefighters and paramedics who arrived at the scene after the accident cut the iron bars and sent the injured to hospitals.

İbrahim Gül was brought to Antalya Training and Research Hospital with an 80-centimeter iron rod and was immediately operated on. The operation was successfully performed by a team of specialists in surgical oncology, urology, orthopedics and cardiovascular surgery under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tuğrul Çakır, Physician in Charge of General Surgery and Organ Transplant Center.

Challenging Surgery and Successful Interventions

Prof. Dr. Tuğrul Çakır stated that the iron, which entered İbrahim Gül’s leg and reached his pelvis, abdomen and chest, damaged vital organs such as the bladder, intestines, diaphragm and lungs. Stating that they repaired these organs and carefully withdrew the iron, Dr. Çakır emphasized that Gül’s survival was possible thanks to the fact that his main vessels were not damaged.

The Recovery Process and Hopes for the Future

İbrahim Gül stated that he did not remember the accident when he opened his eyes in intensive care, but made a great effort to regain his health. Emphasizing that he no longer thinks of driving a motorcycle, Gül thanked Prof. Dr. Tuğrul Çakır and his team.

Prof. Dr. Tuğrul Çakır, who led the surgery, stated that one of the most important factors for the patient’s survival in such incidents is that the teams at the scene transport the foreign body to the hospital without removing it. Prof. Dr. Çakır stated that Gül’s recovery is a source of great happiness for them.

İbrahim Gül’s mother Şengül Gül described her son’s survival as a miracle and expressed her gratitude to the doctors and the medical team.
