Surgery for Vomiting and Severe Weight Loss
Boxer Memet Mamadov (20), who has been struggling with severe abdominal pain and vomiting everything he eats for a year in Crimea, regained his health thanks to General Surgeon Assoc. Dr. Tuğrul Çakır in Antalya. Mamadov, who found healing in Turkey, thousands of kilometers away from his home country Crimea, celebrated his recovery by practicing boxing with his doctor after the successful operation.
General Surgeon Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tuğrul Çakır stated that Memet Mamadov applied to him with complaints of severe abdominal pain, vomiting and nausea after meals. Stating that the complaints had been going on for about a year and that Mamadov had lost 10 kilograms in the last six months, Çakır said that they examined the tests performed in Crimea and performed more detailed tests in Antalya.
As a result of the examinations, it was determined that Mamadov’s main artery carrying blood to the liver, spleen and stomach was 95% narrowed (Median Arcuate Syndrome) and only 5% of the blood flow continued. Stating that this condition caused severe abdominal pain, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çakır noted that they also encountered another serious problem known as Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome, in which the vessel carrying blood to the small intestine exits at a narrower angle and the passage in the duodenum is almost completely narrowed.
Vomiting Surgery Successfully Performed
Stating that they decided on a serious operation considering all these problems, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çakır said that with the operation lasting 2 hours and 20 minutes, they eliminated the structure that pressed on the 95% narrowed vessel and brought the blood flow to normal level. Healso addedthat they solved the angle problem of the vessel carrying blood to the small intestines with a bypass procedure and the patient’s complaints of nausea and vomiting were completely eliminated.
Back to Life After Vomiting Surgery
Mamadov, who underwent a 5-day hospitalization after the surgery, stated that all his complaints have greatly decreased and he has regained his former health. Mamadov stated that he did not vomit at all during his hospitalization and that he was preparing to be discharged. Memet Mamadov, who did a short boxing training in the hospital corridor with his doctor, who had a great contribution to his recovery, expressed his surprise and happiness when he learned that his doctor was also interested in boxing.
Challenging Process and Renewed Hope
Memet Mamadov said that his life was turned upside down because of what he had been through and that he had been looking for a cure in Crimea for a year, but no definite diagnosis could be made. Mamadov said that he tried to hide his condition from his family, and that he had to explain the situation to his family when his pain became unbearable in the last six months. Mamadov, who was looking for a solution in various hospitals in Crimea and Moscow, said that he met Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tuğrul Çakır in Antalya and held on to life again when he started to lose hope after Russian doctors said that they could not perform such an operation.
Stating that he will return to his old days by boxing with his doctor during this period when he regained his health, Mamadov is happy to continue his life from where he left off after this difficult period.
