Bayram Öget, who lives in Antalya, was diagnosed with liver failure after he suddenly lost his vision one morning. Öget, who was kept alive again with a successful liver transplant from a cadaver, expressed his gratitude to the family who donated to him and said, “May God be pleased with them.”
A Challenging Path to Liver Cancer
53-year-old Bayram Öget suddenly lost his vision after returning from a spa vacation 5 years ago. Explaining that he could not see anything when he woke up in the morning, Öget expressed his experiences in the following words: “When we returned from the hot spring in 2014, I woke up one morning and I couldn’t see anything. I don’t even remember how I went to the bathroom in that state. My family broke the door and took me out and immediately took me to the hospital.”
Bayram Öget was diagnosed with liver failure after examinations at Antalya Training and Research Hospital. Öget regained his health with a liver transplant performed by General Surgeon Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tuğrul Çakır and his team.
Treatment and Transplantation Process in Neurology Service
Bayram Öget, who regained his sight after the first treatment at the Gastroenterology Department, was included in the liver transplant list. “After the treatment started, my eyesight came back. However, when liver failure could not be controlled with medication, I was told that I needed a transplant. I was put on the waiting list and a suitable liver was found three years later,” said Öget, who is happy to regain his health after the operation.
A New Life After Surgery
Stating that he works in the leather garment sector, Bayram Öget said, “I could not do my job due to the disease. My biggest wish is to be able to work again and continue life from where I left off,” and expressed his biggest desire after liver transplantation.
Emotional Meeting with Daughter
Bayram Öget is in daily phone contact with his daughter Remziye Öget Gambarova, who lives in Tatarstan. Gambarova expressed her great happiness that her father regained his health and said, “I will visit my father as soon as possible.”
9 Hours Successful Liver Transplant
General Surgeon Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tuğrul Çakır stated that Bayram Öget had been on the organ waiting list for 3 months and said, “The transplant took place 15 days ago with a cadaver donation from outside Antalya. The operation lasted 9 hours and was successful,” he said. Dr. Çakır added that all the patient’s values are normal and he will be discharged soon.
A Rare Condition Beginning with Vision Loss
Underlining that the loss of vision experienced by Bayram Öget is related to liver failure, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çakır said, “In the last stages of chronic liver disease, different symptoms may occur throughout the body. However, vision loss is a very rare condition,” said Dr. Çakır.
